... at it's best! I've been cold and a little miserable the last few days. The weather has been rubbish, the seasonal temperatures decidedly chilly. My planned photo shoot for July's 'Inside Crochet' was cancelled yesterday morning due to the weather and my sock knitting is not progressing well.
What a difference a day makes. Already energised by the amazing progress of my crochet class yesterday evening (Liz, Ann & Dena, you are a joy to teach!), I was greeted by the smallest chink of blue sky when I opened the curtains this morning. So, with a spring in my step, I deposited the children at school and spun up to Shell Bay to meet our lovely friend Tim. You might remember images of the delightful 'Bits & Bobs' dinghy Tim took us out in last summer. Well, today was all about big sister 'Tuppence' - oh, what a gem she is.
Rigged to perfection by retired world-class sailor Tim, the only sign of the previous days' bad weather being the odd sprinkle of wind-blown sand...
And whilst Tim had sailing at the top of his agenda, my purpose this morning was equally focused - hoist up my crochet bunting and photograph it flapping in the soft breeze against a beautiful blue backdrop. And I did promise those of you who don't get 'IC' a sneaky peek of my projects from now on, so to keep you in the loop, here is my bunting and the pretty sea glass which inspired the colour scheme....
Dante and I found our haul a couple of weeks ago down at the sailing club on a cold, grey Saturday morning. The colours are magical and a perfect addition to our ever growing nature table. Speaking of which, The Sicilian - not one to miss an opportunity for discovery - was off with his eyes down along the shoreline seeking out edibles. Slightly less focused by this point, I stumbled upon this little fella...
I suspect Dante will approve his position on the observation table, especially as he still has his claws intact! And to top off a productive, enjoyable and SUNNY morning, The Sicilian whipped up a tasty treat with the leaves, petals and flowers he foraged yesterday...
With the addition of some fusili and a few leaves of wilted sea spinach found this morning, here is today's lunch...
As I said at the beginning of this post, country (and coastal) living at it's best! Just time to have a quick cuppa, proof read my column and head off to collect the children - hope they like their tiny crab ;) xxx
