...and in the garden at OneChurchillsGreen. Inspired by 'Mollie Makes' invite to join them at Vintage 2011, on London's Southbank, 29-31 July, I've been gathering all of my old bits and pieces of crochet. When we moved to our little cottage in the woods, it soon became clear that minimal, clutter-free living wasn't going to fit with our new home. I loved trawling the local auction house and charity shops for furniture, lighting, accessories and linens. In fact, it was this move, six years ago, that started me off on my crochet journey - at the time, raiding my mother's blanket box for my Nan's granny blankets, followed by attempts to cosy up the cottage with some crochet of my own. So, in between the showers, and a rampaging cat, here are some of my bits and bobs.
It's been a bit grey here in Dorset, so these pretty cottons have cheered me up, not to mention my hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight', which is blossoming nicely (I love this hydrangea, it literally lights up the border on a dull day - now I'm on the look out for an 'Annabelle'?! I saw a border lined with them at Athelhampton house, all white and frothy and gorgeous).
And just before I sign off, after checking in to the brilliant 'i love pom-poms' blog, I spotted a post showcasing the gorgeous Martha Stewart granny square article. Simply couldn't resist making my very own little granny square bookmark - seen here marking my spot in the wonderful 'Honey and Dust: travels in search of sweetness' by Piers Moore-Ede (a truly fascinating voyage of self-discovery, intriguing travels and the quite wondrous world of bees, a completely magical combination).
So, back to the beginning - I'll be doing a free workshop with 'Mollie Makes' on Sunday, 31st July at the Southbank, the talented Eirlys Penn will be there on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th running workshops for her delicious Scrapiana strawberry emeries. And I hear there are all sorts of discounts on tickets to be found, so check the web for 'Vintage @ Southbank' and hopefully I'll see you there for an apple cosy or two! xxx
