And along with the phrase, "the best things come in small packages", this is something I am reminded of daily - by the Sicilian, strolling in at a modest 5'6"! And even though I tower over him in a low pair of heels, to me he is just perfect! Having crocheted my way through close to 40 patterns in the last three months, I sat yesterday morning and set to thinking about my 'intermediate' crochet class scheduled for today. Some of my students had attended the 'beginners', so the basic stitches were covered and they did so well last time we even turned corners on granny squares. So I decided to crochet some different techniques, but on a miniature scale. I started with my tiny afghan...
Followed closely by a delicate flower......
Some tobacco linen and Liberty tana lawn, 'Betsy', (no surprises on fabric choice ;-)
Stitched and stuffed, a micro scalloped edge and voila.....
And because it's so pretty, I just had to show you her bottom!!!
Well, not everyone is into micro pin cushions, so this morning we edged linen with a pretty scalloped shape, and we fiddled with '8' gauge thread to create flowers. Just when everyone was about to expire with concentration and tension, we whipped up some little grannies and had a go at crocheting them together with a good old double crochet seam. Sometimes simple is best and I need to learn that small (or fiddly!), isn't always beautiful, not if it makes you go cross-eyed! Well done girls, I thought you did brilliantly xxx
