The Sicilian, Dante and I tripped off to town (London town!) yesterday afternoon. Dante had been invited to the launch party of Angel Adoree's fabulous new book, The Vintage Tea Party Year...
You see, one chilly winter's day earlier this year, Dante was asked to take part in a photo shoot on Brick Lane. Dressed in a circus master's splendour he and four other children were treated to the most amazing tea party created by Angel and her team. And yes, my boy's in the book, so of course I'm a little biased, but I am totally in awe of Angel's creativity and attention to detail. She has a true understanding of 'vintage' - it's not just a string of polka dot bunting and a few cupcakes - it's faded flowers in glass domes, seamed stockings, silk kimonos, antique taxidermy and more hairspray than you could ever imagine! The result, a glimpse of times past, a bygone era when the focus of a party was the exquisite food and the wonderful company. Each chapter presents a different tea party, starting with a vignette, a peek at a party in progress and, trust me, you'd want to be there too!
Angel and her Vintage Patisserie team made us feel so welcome. Dante felt like a star, despite being a little weary after visiting the awesome sights of the Egyptian display at the British Museum - embalmed mummies and all! Thank you Angel for such a magical evening and good luck with the book, it's a triumph of your imagination!
Back to the crochet then, perfect for a rainy day - and those birds eye buttons, tutorial on its way xxx
ps. I've added Angel's book to my shop, so click on through and treat yourself to a little slice of vintage magic.
