....and The Sicilian, of course! Father's day lunch (the one with the peonies!) progressed into afternoon tea complete with my treasured teapot, inherited from my lovely Nana, Connie. The Sicilian received a copy of Ottolenghi's cookery book from the children. And, as we all snuggled on Sunday morning, we leafed through it selecting recipes and admiring the beautiful images. It was the picture of the chocolate meringues, tantalising out of reach in a glass case, that caught Pipi's eye. Of course, various meringue recipes were included in the book, but not the chocolate one! It's times like this that having a chef for a Papa comes in handy.
A simple addition of cocoa powder and a sprinkling of chopped hazelnuts and here they are. The perfect excuse to pull out yet more home made linens, this time with crocheted edging, thrift shop cake stands and vintage doilies.
Nothing quite like a lovely cuppa, some sugary chocolate and hazlenut meringues, oh and did I mention the delicious strawberries and whipped cream?!
Sara, I absolutely adore the colour of your plates - perfect against the meringues! Sarah x

Well spotted Sarah, I love my old Rice (Danish ethical design co.) crockery - hand painted in Tuscany, I used to sell it at the cookery school before I ran out of space! x
